Wisdom Army

(Aimed to build - A World Devoid of Destitute)

“Open your mouth for the dumb, for the rights of all those who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, maintain the rights of the poor and needy” Proverbs 31: 8, 9. “For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper. From oppression and violence he redeems their life; and precious is their blood in his sight” Psalm 72: 12-14.

Wisdom Army is a spiritual fellowship of people who are committed to build:

“A World Devoid of Destitute by 2040.”

This project will be completed in 9 phases.  Each phase will be of 3 years.

This noble task has just been initiated by a number of people who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.  But the poor souls that wander on the streets do not have caste, religion, race, creed, or colour. So let us forget all the differences and join our hands.

For the fulfillment of this noble task, with one heart and mind, to experience the love and equality of the Kingdom of God that Christ taught and also people share their blessings/things with those who do not have, is the aim of Wisdom Army.

Anyone who belongs to any social status and from anywhere and willing to volunteer part-time/fulltime to fulfill this mission is welcomed. They will be provided simple food and accommodation. Moreover, as you become a member, you will be supported by the prayers of thousands that will pour out blessings in your lives in great measure.

“And this, not as we expected, but first they gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God. Accordingly we have urged Titus that as he had already made a beginning, he should also complete among you this gracious work.  Now you excel in everything- in faith, in utterance, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in your love for us- see that you excel in this gracious work also” 2 Corinthians 8: 5-7.

The person who lives out this Word of God only is a Christian. The active participation in this gracious work is God’s ministry.

Jesus says in Luke 10:7b (cf. I Timothy 5:18) “...for the laborer deserves his wages.”

“So we ought to support such men, that we may be fellow workers in the truth” III John 8. Gradually, towards the development, Wisdom Army will try to protect the volunteers who are coming forward as the voice and co- Salvationist of the destitute by all means.

“Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said” Amos 5:14.

A Step Ahead...

1. Take precautions for preventing the ones in our neighborhood and knowledge ending up in the streets. With one hand gather the destitute from the streets and with the other put a blockade so that the poor people at homes may not enter into the streets.

  •  A group that is vulnerable to enter the street- addicts of alcohols and drugs.
  •  Physical infirmities, sickness, poverty and debts are also reasons for people to end up on streets on high rate...
  •  Those who are abandoned by children, spouses, relatives after snatching away the possessions.

Consider that I have not labored for myself alone, but for all who seek instruction. Hear me, you who are great among the people, and you leaders of the congregation, hearken. To son or wife, brother or friend, do not give power over yourself, as long as you live; and do not give your property to another, lest you change your mind and must ask for it. While you are still alive and have breath in you, do not let anyone take your place. For it is better that your children ask from you than that you should look to the hand of your sons. Excel in all that you do; bring no stain upon your honor. At the time when you end the days of your life, in the hour of death, distribute your inheritance” Sirach 33: 17-23.

Many parents end up on the streets after losing everything as they do not know this Scripture.

2. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ”

Let us join our hands to reduce the life cares of those who are participating in this divine endeavor. This help was started by the Church in the first century. So we, the children of the church should continue this.

“Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, the Hellenists murmured against the Hebrews because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution” Acts 6:1.

3. Wisdom Army focuses on lifting up the poor and downtrodden into the higher level of the society.

“He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with the princes and inherit a seat of honor” I Samuel 2:8.

“Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” Matthew 25:40.

4. Some of us lead a life of seclusion. But some live alone even though they have everyone. Let’s provide them support of thousands. These are the main objectives of this fellowship.

“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart, and bring me out of my distress” Psalm 25: 16, 17.

I. The Basic Principles of Wisdom Army

But Jesus answered them, "You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God” Matthew 22:29. Wisdom Army reminds the Word of God again to strengthen our personal and spiritual life so that we may not get into wrong doings.

Jeremiah 29: 5, 6 of the Holy Bible is the basis of all activities of Wisdom Army.  “Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.” It is our responsibility to help those who fail to respond to this life pattern even after doing much effort.

God created Adam and Eve after preparing a suitable habitation for them. Likewise, each of us is supposed to prepare the basic facilities for our life on earth. Wisdom Army is committed to build up the personal life and the family lives of people, thereby to establish a good society. Only through mutual love and co-operation we can create a good society.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” St. John 13: 34, 35.

1. For the Homeless

“For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God” Hebrews 3:4. Perhaps we may not be able to build houses for everyone. But for every homeless member, who requests help from us, each member in the Wisdom Army should be committed to contribute at least one stone at the time of their house construction.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, builders build in vain” Psalm 127: 1. “Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put in your lap” Luke 6:38.

2. Agriculture
Each member must do some vegetable cultivation/farming by foreseeing the possible food scarcity in the future and must share their products with the poor people.
1.     Vegetables/ fruits: different types of chilly, ladies finger, bitter guard, brinjal, various beans, spinaches,  plantains, tapioca, papaya, pineapple and various types of mango trees etc...
2.     Fish: eatable and non- eatable.
3.    Birds: hens, duck, quail, emu etc...
4.    Animals: goats, cows and pigs etc...
5.    Plants: Jasmine, Orchid, Anthoorium etc...

“You cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for people to use, to bring forth food from the earth” Psalm 104: 14.

“May be there is abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountain may it wave; may its fruit be like Lebanon” Psalm 72: 16.

3. Food

“For I was hungry and you gave me food” Matthew 25: 35 a. If a member comes to know that in the neighborhood someone starves, s/he should let the Wisdom Army know and take the effort to eradicate the starvation.

He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing” Deuteronomy 10:18.

If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? So faith by itself it has now works is dead” James 2: 15, 16.

This effort is based on this Scripture- “You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit” Leviticus 25:37.

4. Education

We need to extend our hands to the children in order that they may achieve good education.

“Draw near to me, you who are untaught, and lodge in my school. Why do you say you are lacking in these things and why are your souls very thirsty? I opened my mouth and said, “Get these things for yourselves without money. Put your neck under the yoke, and let your souls receive instruction; it is to be found close by”              Sirach 51: 23- 26.

5. Help for marriage to reduce the tension of the parents:

1.    Each member should consider all the unmarried girls in the Wisdom Army as their own sisters or daughters and must help those who request help for marriage.
2.    Boys will receive support for marriage arrangements and also their wives will get priority for the membership.
3.    It’s not Christian to give or take dowry; this system is one of the biggest evils and it should be discouraged at any cost. “Do not be ensnared by a woman’s beauty, and do not desire a woman for their possessions. There is wrath and impudence and great disgrace when a wife supports her husband” Sirach 25: 21, 22.

6. Employment / Job

1.    Suggestions/guidelines and also co-operation for setting up self employment units will be given to deserving groups.
2.    Wisdom Army will try to establish printing press, catering, tailoring, carpentry etc...

7. Sickness

1.    Nowadays, the kids or dear ones do not have time to take care of their family members at their sick bed. If such a situation happens to a volunteer, Wisdom Army develops, will try to provide hospital care for some days at their request. “The Lord sustains him on sickbed; in his illness he heals all his infirmities” Ps 41: 3; “I was sick you and you visited me” Matthew 25:36b.
2.    All the necessary instructions and guidance for blood donation and also organ donations will be given if a member wishes.

8. Clinic

1.    Wisdom Army will try to set up own clinical facilities.
2.    At least 2 medical camps in a year will be arranged in each region both for volunteers and inmates
3.    Health Card will be made available for all the members.

II. The duties, responsibilities and spiritual rules

1.    Wisdom Army should be given importance in personal prayer, family prayer, daily prayer and in group prayer.
“He will regard the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their supplication” Psalm 102: 17; “Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. For now I’ve chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever; my eyes and heart will be there for all time”         2 Chronicles 7: 15, 16.
2.    Each member should desire and strive for the life betterment of the people who we know and the people to whom we are known.
3.    If we find beggars in stinking clothes with strange appearance wandering on the streets, try to bring them to our Evangelashram or some other rehabilitation centers.
4.    Each member must serve the inmates of Evangelashram at least for 3 hours in a month/3/6 months or in a year alone or in a group. The members who are unable to reach at the Ashram can do similar service in their own respective places and submit the details of the organizations to Wisdom Army.  Non- members also can be brought to serve at the Ashram.
5.    The leaders should mark the names of those who are willing to serve at the Ashram on the service chart given by the Ashram. This will help to organize the work schedule properly.
6.    If anyone wishes to do services in other states or out of country should inform the Ashram.
7.    Any member can offer/do lifetime service at Evangelashram or its branches.
8.    At the time of natural calamities Wisdom Army should be ready to get involved in rescuing people.
9.    Churches, social organizations, medias, clubs, social reformers, well wishers also could be invited and together can perform the service.
10.    Members can sponsor or encourage people to sponsor food for the inmates of the ashram at the time of wedding, wedding anniversaries, after death ceremonies or other auspicious occasions.
11.    Anyone can donate new clothes to the Ashram.
12.    There are opportunities for those who know different languages to give tuition to the inmates and also should develop good communication with the people of these languages for the expansion of this noble mission.
13.    The new water beds, wheel chairs, and other medical equipments that sick people used could be brought to the Ashram.
14.    The members should let Evangelashram know about the works or skills they know and also the current job at the time of Wisdom Army membership. Your service could be used for the expansion of this great task.
15.     Medical professionals, engineers, lawyers, administrators, drivers, carpenters, masons, or any other professional also can help when a need arises.
16.    The moral life and spiritual life of every member should be observed carefully. And if a member faces brokenness or crisis in the family, Wisdom Army will try to find solution in a Christian manner. Spiritual and psychological counseling will be given to the member and family members, if needed.
17.    If a member has any court case, it should be made known to the Wisdom Army at the time of membership registration.
18.    If there are no nominees Evangelashram will be the nominee. Nominee will not receive any benefits after the death of the member.
19.    The active membership term is 3 years. The membership should be renewed at least within 90 days. This is a lifetime process. When a member does not follow this plan, the membership will be naturally cancelled.
20.    If a member wants to withdraw the membership, kindly inform the Wisdom Army before 30 days.
21.    If a member who has completed 6 months falls into any serious sickness, as much as possible help will be given. If this member is unable to continue the membership, by considering their condition, other help also will be given.
22.    If a member needs any assistance from the Wisdom Army, it will be provided once in a year.
23.    Do not collect money in the name of Evangelashram/ Wisdom Army. We have not authorized or will not authorize anyone to collect money. But direct help could be done for the expansion of our mission.
24.    Do not exchange gold, RC Book, property documents, cash between members or do not become a surety for other members without written permission.
25.    The Wisdom Army members should not use the Word of God to engage in vague arguments or for showing religious fanaticism.
“...and wrangling among men who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain” I Timothy 6:5.
“But even if we, angels from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed” Galatians 1:8, 9.
“Great indeed we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory” I Timothy 3:16.

“Do nothing in selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” Philippians 2:3, 4.
26.    Since Evangelashram is under Catholic Church, it will be functioning only according to Church norms. By receiving the challenge from Pope John Paul II let’s “re-evangelize to evangelize.” Let’s cleanse ourselves and then purify others. So it is mandatory for every member to attend yearly retreat as per church tradition.  Members can attend the retreat anywhere. Nevertheless we have retreats at Evangelashram in every month for a week from 1st Sunday to 2nd Saturday. No fee/no offer tree is charged. There will be special retreats arranged during holidays.
27.    There is one day retreat on every Saturday at Evangelashram for the members or the people who are known to the members for the spiritual upliftment.

III. Four Group

“I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the crippled, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will watch over” Ezekiel 34: 15, 16.

“And I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd” John 10:16.

1.    Volunteers who are able to co-operate in the administrative responsibility of Wisdom Army.

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God” Hebrews 13:16.

2.    Volunteers who need support of others to come up in life.

“As for me, I am poor and needy; but the Lord takes thought for me” Psalm 40:17a.

3.    Volunteers from any walks of life.

“Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him” Acts 10:34, 35.

4.    Volunteers who become part of the Wisdom Army step by step.

IV. The strategy to rescue the vagabonds/destitute is as follows

1.    Find out two committed/dedicated volunteers. This mission was started by our Saviour Jesus.
“And he called him to the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits” Mark 6: 7.

2.    Build up relationship with 2 organizations that are of similar concern.

“For we are God’s fellow workers”   I Corinthians 3:9a.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their soil” Ecclesiastes 4:9
“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven” Matthew 18:19.

3.    Make sure the life security of each people that are being secured.

“The beloved of the LORD, he dwells in safety by him” Deuteronomy 33:12a.

For fulfilling the upliftment of the precious lives of the people who are committed to build up a World Devoid of Destitute...

Let the wise lend some wisdom,

The diligent some diligence
