HomeWhat We DoObjectives

Objectives

Look!  Jesus guaranteed us through one of his apostles “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Mathew 25:40).

Let us pause for a while, and think of the destitute, abandoned by those who give them birth, punished for no sin of their own. They come in all age groups -newborns, infants, toddlers, teens, adults irrespective of gender, creed, religion and caste. Many of them were born with congenital defects, or tormented by physical, mental and emotional challenges. Then there are the old and the infirm, elderly men and women who have been left in the lurch by their own kith and kin, with nobody to look after them in the evening of their lives. Unless we take them under our wings, they will be doomed to exist in an inferno controlled by vile and unscrupulous elements that will exploit and abuse them.

Our main objective is to rescue the street children and people from the streets and provide them with basic infrastructure and adequate personal care so as to mould them into responsible citizens through the Lord Jesus Christ.

The society we live in plays an important role in fulfilling our objective. As members of a civilized and conscientious society can we ignore this suffering humanity and still find peace and happiness in our lives? If we want lasting peace and fulfillment in our lives, let’s do our mite to rehabilitate these unfortunate brethren, helping them build a happy and secure life for themselves. Remember, no human gesture is nobler than care and compassion towards the sick, weak and needy.

Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, and the blind and lame… “Go out into the roads and lanes and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled” (Luke 14:21, 23).  The eternal King sent his servants to invite the shattered and the scattered ones to participate in the heavenly feast and rejoice. So it is the first and foremost quality of a human to be kind, care and compassionate towards the sick, weak and needy. Brother Amal and his colleagues took initiative to do these Good Samaritan acts and thus is the humble beginning of our Evangelashram, Koonammavu, near Edappally, Ernakulam. Since 1992, Evangelashram has been striving to bring succor to hundreds of destitute children and homeless elderly people. Today nearly 150 residents are accommodated in unfurnished halls in the ashram. Thus Evangelashram takes special care to bring in those who are spiritually, mentally or physically challenged to give them solace through Lord Jesus Christ.

We invite you to be part of this great mission to rescue as many of these orphaned children and adults as possible giving them new life of safety and hope; to ensure that they get a good meal, a clean bed and a good education - and dream of what they might be when they grow up.  So come forward and join this life-building movement, so that these neglected children grow into decent, productive and responsible members of the society.

We know that ours is a long and arduous task. But we are sure to accomplish the mission with your inspiring participation. Let’s start our joint effort NOW!
